MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging is an advanced imaging technique that is painless and does not require x-ray radiation. MRI utilizes magnetic fields, radio waves and computers to create extremely detailed pictures or "images" of internal organs and structures. The MRI unit, or scanner, consists of a large magnet, antenna and a computer. During the exam, hydrogen atoms in the body receive radio signals from the MRI unit. These signals, which are totally harmless, are returned by the body and processed by the computer. These images are then printed onto film, or sent digitally, for interpretation by a radiologist to help the physician plan the treatment for injury or illness .
OPEN MRI "Open" MRI is a revolutionary design which features the advantages of an easily accessible permanent magnet. We are setting a new standard in patient comfort with our unique extra large opening which allows exceptional airflow and an unparalleled OPEN view around you during the scan. This technology, combined with an experienced, caring staff, will make the patient feel much less enclosed and confined, thus eliminating anxiety or claustrophobic tendencies. This open design also allows a family or staff member to accompany the patient throughout the exam. Open MRI also features an extra large opening which comfortably provides enough room to image patients weighing up to 500 pounds.
TRADITIONAL MRI For some examinations, the image quality, or resolution of the traditional scanner is the option preferred by the physician. This scanner has a stronger magnetic field, and a variety of specialty imaging transmitting coils, giving it unique ability to provide clearer, more detailed images. It also provides shorter scan times. The traditional MRI is the best choice for many types of specialized exams.
Upright MRI Upright MRI provides weight bearing and positional images which are ideal for spine imaging. Patients can be scanned in a multitude of positions standing, sitting, lying down, flexion, extension, rotation and lateral bending. Doctors can now see their patients in their position of symptoms. In addition, Upright MRI is very patient-friendly allowing patients to watch television while a scan is completed. Unlike any other MRI system, the face and head are not covered in any way. Often, highly claustrophic patients are able to complete scans without sedation.
